About The North Creek Ridge B&B
Innkeepers Holly and Jim Conroy welcome you to their recently completed log inn which offers affordable lodging on 63 acres just 7 miles from the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park (including the McLean House where the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia was signed in 1865). Following retirement from Jim’s Air Force career (which took them around the country and world) and government contracting and Holly’s 38-year teaching career, they moved to Appomattox from northern Virginia to be near their son’s family who settled here following retirement from government service and daughter’s family who also decided to join the family here.
After purchasing the farm adjoining the property their son named Faisnéis Farm (an Irish word for knowledge) and selling the existing house to their daughter, they designed and built a log dream home to become North Creek Ridge Bed and Breakfast in between. We love the look and feel of wood, so building log was the obvious choice. The Inn was specifically designed to become a Bed & Breakfast through altering stock plans from a log home company in North Carolina. Nestled in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the heart of history, we offer a place to rest, relax, and recharge.
While it is a new building, it allows us to feature many of the artifacts we’ve collected through our travels and experiences as a military family. Each room is planned around a specific place or theme that is important to us. From an heirloom Civil War soldier lamp to Korean tiger art, each piece was chosen to create a relaxing atmosphere. You’ll find a short explanation of the items in each room upon your arrival.
Our interest and love of history also has a place, particularly in the art gallery hallway. We’ve collected art for many years and you will see much of it throughout the house.
We embrace our Irish roots as you’ll find in the lower level finished as an Irish Pub! Guests are invited to relax here if the Pub is not scheduled for a special event.
The patio area includes a fire pit surrounded by comfortable chairs, perfect for evening relaxation with a glass of wine – and yes, you can enjoy whatever gems you discovered at our many local wineries, breweries and distilleries. The cows often gather outside the patio but you may also see a variety of wildlife in the nearby forest. Don’t be surprised to see a flock of turkeys, a band of white-tailed deer, a red fox, raccoons, groundhogs and yes there is even a bear in the area!!
Come and visit - you're always welcome at North Creek Ridge.
