Wineries Near Lynchburg, VA

North Creek Ridge B&B sits between several vineyards to the north and south of the inn. Both scenic wine tour routes offer great wine tasting experiences. After a day of tasting, bring your wine purchases back to the North Creek Ridge B&B where you can sit in our pub, on the deck or around the fire pit to sip and enjoy your newfound wine discoveries.

Northbound Wineries

The majority of wineries in the Lynchburg area are north of the B&B. These five wineries are the closest to the inn from the north.  Follow the map to take a self-driving wine tour of all five tasting rooms.  The entire loop is 89 miles and takes less than 2 hours drive time.

Mountain Cove Vineyards

As most of our area wineries, Mountain Cove is family-owned and operated that was begun in 1974. The Weed family developed the winery and their home on part of an abandoned farm purchased for its acreage suitable for growing grapes. Today, in addition to their wines, the winery also includes Fortune’s Cove nature preserve that guests are welcome to walk.

Rebec Vineyards

Founded in 1980, Rebec remains family owned and operated.  The tasting room was constructed of timbers from a 200-year-old tobacco barn.  A lovely deck as well as spacious grounds provide a relaxing spot for a picnic. The wines are old European in style, crafted by Bulgarian winemaker, Svet. You can learn more about the process and wines with a tour available on Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. But be sure to sample Autumn Glow!

Lovingston Winery

Primarily family-owned and run, Lovingston wines are estate-grown and blended by their resident winemaker. Vines are “dense planted” to encourage the vines to put energy into grape quality rather than quantity.  Lovingston produces small batch wines to carefully control quality of the wine.

Lazy Days Winery

Family-owned winery in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with spectacular views! All wines are estate grown and bottled and include a selection of white, red and fruit wines. Tasting room is open Friday-Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The first and third Saturdays of each month are Sangria Saturdays with a special house-made sangria available (delicious-we brought home a growler!!).

Southbound Wineries

Take a scenic Saturday aftermoon tour to wineries to the south of North Creek Ridge B&B.  Start by driving about 46 miles to the southernmost point at the Hunting Creek Vineyards and end just a few minutes away from the B&B at Devalt Family Wineries. The entire route is about 2 1/2 hours of drive time and 123 miles. Get winery details below.

A small, family-owned vineyard operates on the phrase “from the ground to the glass” to create high quality smooth wines.  Reds, whites and rosé wines are produced from both estate grown and locally grown grapes. Tasting room and outdoor seating is available. Contact them ahead of your visit to schedule a tour and behind the scenes look at the winery operations.

Bright Meadows Farm Vineyard

This family-owned vineyard & winery is located on a 19th-century tobacco plantation with 11 red or white wine varieties ranging from sweet to dry as well as an apple wine!

Altillo Vinyards

Open Saturday Noon to 6 PM. Call to confirm hours.

This small vineyard award-winning red, white and rosé wines from their own estate-grown grapes supplemented with other Virginia grown grapes. They specialize in custom crush, custom winemaking, and consulting to winery start-ups. Chat with the owners about wine-making as you enjoy their wines in the tasting room, the outdoor deck, relaxing in front of the fireplace or picnicking on the winery grounds.

Currently only open on Saturdays, but call ahead to check on additional openings.
